| What does “By US, For US” mean? That means that we are completely consumer-operated. We are all equals, we have all “been there”. As consumers, we are intimately familiar with many aspects of treatment, quality of care, agencies, service models, housing opportunities and other information. EMPOWERMENT and making our own decisions are priorities. |

| Wellbriety A Cultural Approach to Recovery Fridays 1:00-2:30 Begins July 7th This Medicine Wheel and 12 Step program was originally developed to provide a culturally appropriate 12 Step Recovery Support Program for Native American people in prison. By focusing on character and values, each of the 12 Steps is presented from the perspective of the value that it reflects. This allows for the program to be adapted to fit the cultural and spiritual preferences of the participants. We share insights and experiences in a talking circle. We also learn how to mind map our own knowledge around these teachings and apply that learning to our daily lives and decision making processes. Strong social and emotional bonds are created that help develop trust, autonomy, and other healthy feelings and thought patterns that help us grow emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. We use the White Bison video series and workbook, as well as readings from White Bison's The Red Road to Wellbriety and other 12 step literature. Drumming, sweats, chanting, cleansing / smudging, learning traditional dances and language and listening to local Elders are all sometimes a part of the Medicine Wheel and 12 Step program. A new cycle begins with the Introduction to the Medicine Wheel and Twelve Steps, on June 16th. This class meets at Ward 6 on Fridays from 1:00 - 2:30. We welcome referrals and anyone desiring Recovery. For more information contact Teresa at 882-7649. Wellness + Sobriety = Wellbriety! |
